Leigh is head of music at Honley High School in Huddersfield and plays Solo Baritone with the famous Brighouse and Rastrick Band, where he also became Composer in Residence in 2007.

Leigh was awarded the 'Best new arrangement or composition' prize at the Brass In Concert Championships, 2006 for his arrangement of 'Bare Necessities', and picked up the same award in 2007 for his reworking of 'Mr Sandman'. His original work, 'Roman Triptych' was selected as the test piece for the 4th Section finals of the National Brass Band Championships in 2007.
