Eventus – Lake of Dreams
Eventus – Lake of Dreams was composed for Dr. Robert Childs and the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, especially for the 2015 Brass In Concert Championships at the Sage, Gateshead.
The music acts as a curtain raiser, introducing the band in sections, initially featuring the percussion and low brass. A virtuoso duet then ensues, quickly followed by a flugel and horn duet leading into each section of the band being individually showcased, before the conductor finally enters the stage.
Inspired by the Lacus Somniorum (Lake of Dreams), the music is optimistic in style and follows Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s trademark formula, creating a spine-tingling ‘opener’ with a difference!
The work received its world premiere performance during Grimethorpe’s August 2015 tour of Australia and is featured on the CD Grimethorpe Entertain.
